Rf1 seems like a defense to the gambit, but Black can play 6...Qxe4+ and White must sacrifice their queen or allow checkmate.
Better was 6. Ng5, which gives away the rook but moves the knight to safety and protects the e4-pawn. After 6...Qxh1+ White can play 7. Bf1.
