This is the best way for White to maintain a slight advantage. However, they must play the precise, correct moves in order to deter Black's many threats. This is because despite White's huge material advantage, they have barely any pieces developed while Black has space for both of their bishops, knights, and queen.
The first of Black's threats comes after 8...Nd4, giving the White queen no safe squares to move to.
