Mengarini's Opening C20 King's Pawn Game
Mengarini's Opening
2. a3
White plays a waiting move instead of developing a piece. This move is playable but timid and concedes White's first move advantage. This is similar to an Open Game with colors reversed, except that White has played a3 to stop Bb4 if Nc3 is played. Black can choose a variety of responses:
2...Nf6
2...Nc6
2...Bc5
2...d5
2...f5!?
