Queen's Pawn Opening 1. d4 h6 A40 Queen's Pawn Opening
Queen's Pawn Opening
1...h6?!
A less conventional response to 1. d4, playing in a similar fashion to the Carr Defence. Black wants to gain space on the kingside with g5 and Bg7, however, White can grab the center as Black hasn't contested the center themselves nor developed a piece.
White can choose from a variety of moves, such as:
2. e4, taking the full center
2. c4, playing in the fashion of Queen's Pawn openings
2. Nf3, developing the kingside knight
2. Nc3, developing the queenside knight
2. Bf4, playing in the fashion of the London, but the bishop can be kicked with 2...g5
2. h4!?, stopping g5.
