Polerio-Svedenborg variation C40 Latvian gambit → Mayet attack → Polerio-Svedenborg variation → 5. Qh5
5...g6
Black blocks the check with their g-pawn. Now White has two pieces hanging: the bishop on c4 and the queen on h5, so retreating the queen would lose the bishop.
White's best and most common move is 6. Nxg6, where Black can choose between the sound exchange sacrifice, 6...hxg6 7. Qxh8 Kf7!, or the unsound (but playable!) queen attack, 6...Nf6, usually played by amateurs.
White can play 6. Bb5+, but gives Black the extra tempo of 6...c6 before 7. Nxg6, and so doesn't make as much sense to play.
