Axis & Allies / 1942 is a complex strategy game with lots of upgrading and building your deck to fight other opponents.
Basics of the Game
To start, you choose your country. There are 145 countries to choose from, each with their own distinct rule set. After that, choose your starting cards. Each card has an attack, defense, and special stat. For example, the propaganda increases support by 1. The Communism card gives you + 1 power, but decreases your support by 1. Each stat gives you your own boosts, like how support gives you more money, money gives you more supplies, supplies gives you an attack bonus, attack bonuses increase your national security, and security boosts morale, and morale doesn’t do anything. Lastly, each tile on the board gives you supplies as well. Each tile can give money, oil, wheat, brick, ore, and weapons. To upgrade, use your money to boost each card. Each card has a back side with more powerful stuff, like how upgrading a weapons card will yield higher research for bombs and stuff. Research trees will let you upgrade cards faster, reaching more and more and more and more upgrades and new cards. At the bottom of the tree you have oil drills, then gas cars, then faster cars, then airplanes, then better and bigger airplanes, then fighter jets, then nuclear bombs. The ideology card and country of choice chooses your tech tree. The US has a better and longer tech tree compared to Vanauatu.
Basic Lingo
Some basic terms in the game include:
Bingo Bango—capture a city using Australian marines.
3-uped—Be ahead of your opponents in the tech tree by 3 tiers.
Waffles Tech—Be Belgian
Extremer—Choose an island nation in Oceania as your starting country
