Writing Adolescent Fiction/Character names/Sierra Leonean
Reference material by Wikibooks contributors. This retains its source identity and is not 411 news reporting.
Usage note
Some Sierra Leonean given names are based on birth order, context and gender. These are indicated here.
Sierra Leonean given names are sometimes borrowed from other local ethnic tribes, where one name can be rooted in one group, it may be commonly used within other overlapping groups. For example, ‘Tenneh’ means Monday in Limba, but the name is most commonly observed amongst Temne people too. It is also possible for the same name to have different meanings to different ethnic groups.
Some names listed may not be Sierra Leonean by origin, but used frequently within the country.
