Korchnoi attack A80 Korchnoi attack
2...Nf6
The most common and best response to the Korchnoi Attack, however White can spring a trap with a surprising gambit.
3. g4 is the Janzen-Korchnoi Gambit, which can set up a trap if accepted with 3...fxg4: 4. hxg4 Nxg4 5. Qd3! Nf6?? 6. Rxh7!! Rxh7?? 7. Qg6#. However, if Black knows the correct responses, it can be neutralized.
A sounder response is 3. Nf3, however it doesn't lead to the fun Janzen-Korchnoi positions, instead developing the kingside knight and aiming for a relatively normal game.
