Finnish variation B15 Caro-Kann → 4. Nxe4
4...h6 · Finnish variation
Black prepares an escape square for their c-bishop's later use. This is usually perceived as passive and is thus rarely seen at higher levels.
5. Nf3 is the main move. White develops their knight to its more natural square, ignoring Black's strange pawn move h6.
5. Bc4 is another good move, developing the bishop to an active square with good scope, and maybe even preparing Bxf7+ sacrifices to exploit the weakened kingside h6 caused.
5. Ng3 is playable. White stops the bishop from coming to f5 so it doesn't gain tempo on the knight nor does it get a chance to go to the newly opened h7.
