Modern variation B34 Sicilian defence → Accelerated dragon
5. Nc3 · Modern variation
Avoiding 5. c4, White develops their knight to its natural square. This is slightly less common than 5. c4.
5...Bg7 is essentially the only move and the line continues 6. Be3 Nf6. There White has some choice but almost always picks 7. Bc4 to control d5, where White intends to castle long and attack on the king's side. Less common sidelines include 7. Be2 and O-O, or 7. Nxc6 intending 8. e5, or 7. f3?!, which is an error.
