Torre Attack Queens Pawn Opening D03
Torre Attack
Named after Carlos Torre Repetto, Mexico's first grandmaster, the Torre Attack is relatively rare at top level, with minimal theoretical opportunities for White to gain an advantage. However, it is popular at club level, with its easy development and relative lack of danger for White.
White will quite often play similar moves, regardless of Black's response, with Nbd2, c3, e3, and after developing the bishop and castling, often plans to move the knight to e5, supported by f4 if possible, launching a kingside attack.
Black can respond in numerous ways, with 3...d5 inviting White to transpose to the Queen's Gambit Declined.
