Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Rowena Ravenclaw

Rowena Ravenclaw Female Unknown Unknown After spoiler warning Overview Rowena Ravenclaw was one of the four founders of Hogwarts and the creator of Ravenclaw House. She preferred to teach students with the greatest intellect and members of her House have come to be known by this trait. Role in the Books Chamber of Secrets When Professor Binns is telling Harry's class about the myth of the Chamber of Secrets, he mentions the four Founders of Hogwarts: Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff. He mentions that when the argument between the Founders, as to whether those who could not prove magical forbears, broke out, it was Salazar Slytherin standing alone against the other three. Deathly Hallows In Xeno Lovegood's study, we see an odd contraption which he says is an attempt to re-construct the lost Diadem of Rowena Ravenclaw. This diadem, we are led to believe, had some enhancing effect on intelligence. Rowena's heirloom, her magical diadem, was stolen by her daughter and concealed in a hollow tree in Albania. Ashamed of her daughter's treason and not wishing to reveal how it had gotten stolen, Rowena said it had gotten lost. However, Rowena later fell terminally ill. By then, she only had one wish; this was to see her daughter for the last time, though that was turned down by Helena. Thus, Rowena never got the chance to reconcile with her daughter before their untimely deaths. Rowena's diadem ends up being one of the Horcruxes of Lord Voldemort and is destroyed in a Fiendfyre spell gone wrong in the Room of Requirement. Strengths She was known for her wisdom and intellectual power; presumably, this made her capable of devising strategies to prevail over her enemies. Weaknesses Rowena's unwillingness to accept people with a somewhat lower intellect could be considered her main weakness. Relationships with Other Characters Rowena Ravenclaw was Helena Ravenclaw's mother. As we find out in the final book, Helena Ravenclaw became the Ravenclaw house ghost, the Grey Lady.
