Subject: ORCID Affiliation Project - newsletter request
Dear colleagues,
I've been working on a project and would like to ask you to include an announcement in your next available newsletter:
The project is to make people aware of our ORCID Affiliation Invitation that's coming at the end of the month. What this entails (and you'll be able to read it in the blog we'd like you to link to, see below) is that all Research staff, Teaching & Research staff and PGRs will be sent an email notification from ORCID, inviting them to accept the University of XXX as their affiliation. If they don't have an ORCID ID already, we encourage them to get one for free. ORCID IDs are to researchers pretty much what ISBNs are to books, unique identifiers that help in various situations such as grant applications or collaborations.
The goal is to make sure our researchers are affiliated with us so that the activities they work so hard for can be acknowledged. This includes all types of outputs, not just journal articles. In return, researchers receive a green tick along their affiliation, which identifies it as a ‘trustworthy data source’. These invitations will go out regularly after the first push at the end of the month.
Please find all necessary information in the attached Word document and below this email. If you have any questions at all, please let me know. Otherwise it would be great if you could confirm if and when you can include the information in a newsletter or other communication. This information will also go out on social media and in an email campaign directly to the affected staff, but please feel free to share as far and wide as you can.
With many thanks,
xyz
