International Postage Meter Stamp Catalog/British Indian Ocean Territory

British Indian Ocean Territory 3 This British Protectorate is in the center of the Indian Ocean. Postage meters are used at a refueling station leased by the United States Navy on the island of Diego Garcia. The stamps are United States types with town mark containing “DIEGO GARCIA”. Until 1965 Diego Garcia was a dependency of Mauritius, and a commercial meter of Mauritius was reportedly used during that period with town mark “DIEGO-GARCIA”.
