History The Retro-Bit Super Retro Trio was preceded by the portable Retro Duo. The original Super Retro Trio was released in 2014. The Super Retro Trio Plus model released around 2018. This model received reviews which were mostly positive, albeit with significant caveats. Technology Electronics According to a review by Destructoid, the Super Retro Trio Plus used "Software on a chip" technology for game compatibility. The Super Retro Trio Plus model was capable of outputting a 720p resolution picture using HDMI, albeit with some noted clarity issues. HDMI output was stretched to 16:9 aspect ratio, distorting the image further. The system was also capable out outputting a standard definition composite signal over 3 RCA jacks on the back of the system. Hardware The system sported two controller ports for each supported system underneath a movable panel, for six total ports. The system shipped with two controllers, which attach via the SNES port but are usable for all supported systems with some caveats. The system possessed a microUSB port for power, and was shipped with a power adapter. The Super Retro Trio Plus carried a P65 warning.Super RetroTRIO Plus 3-in-1 System https://retro-bit.com/super-retrotrio-plus.html 29 December 2021 retro-bit.com Games The Super Retro Trio and Super Retro Trio Plus played Genesis, SNES, and NES games.Retro-Bit Super Retro Trio Plus Review https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/retro-bit-super-retro-trio-plus 29 December 2021 PCMAG enReview: Retro-Bit Super Retro Trio Plus https://www.destructoid.com/review-retro-bit-super-retro-trio-plus/ 29 December 2021 Destructoid 2 March 2018 en-CA Despite an option toggle, European systems could only play Genesis/Mega Drive games with PAL standards.Retro-Bit Super Retro Trio Plus https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/retro-bit-super-retro-trio-plus 29 December 2021 Trusted Reviews enHardware Review: Retro-Bit Super Retro Trio Plus https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/01/hardware_review_retro-bit_super_retro_trio_plus 29 December 2021 Nintendo Life 17 January 2018 An optional adapter accessory expanded the original Super Retro Trio to allow it to play GameBoy and GameBoy Advance games.Retro-Bit Super Retro Trio Review https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/retro-bit-super-retro-trio 29 December 2021 PCMAG en Console Editions Original Super Retro Trio Black with red accents.
