English Opening
1...Nh6?!
The rarest response to the English Opening in amateur play, playing in similar fashion to the Adams/Hippopotamus Defence. Instead of contesting the center or developing the knight to f6, Black moves the knight to the rim for not much reason.
White can choose from a variety of responses, such as:
2. d4, pushing a central pawn to take control of the center
2. Nc3, developing the queenside knight normally
2. Nf3, developing the kingside knight normally
2. g3, preparing to fianchetto the kingside bishop.
2. b3, preparing to fianchetto the queenside bishop.
