Lputian variation C02 French defence
6...Nh6 · Lputian variation
Black develops the knight to h4 intending to manoeuvre it to the f5-square.
/7. Bxh6/? attempts to damage Black's pawn structure, but it fails because of 7...Qxb2 threatening to take the rook and only recapturing the bishop after 8. Nbd2. Black ends up being two pawns up in exchange for the slightly damaged kingside, which can be used to attack White with the newly opened g-file.
/7. b4/ is the proper response. After which 7...cxd4 8. cxd4 Nf5 places the knight on its target square.
