Polish/Future tense

The future tense in Polish language is used to describe: Actions that will happen in the future. Jutro pójdę do szkoły. - Tomorrow I will go to school. Plans and intentions. Będę czytać książkę wieczorem. - I will be reading a book in the evening. Predictions and expectations. Będzie padać. - It will rain. The future tense answers the question what will someone do? (co będzie robić? / co zrobi?). Types of Future Tense Polish has two ways to form the future tense: Simple future – used with perfective verbs. napisać → napiszę (I will write) zrobić → zrobię (I will do) Compound future – used with imperfective verbs. będę czytać (I will read / be reading) będę robić (I will do / be doing) Compound Future Verb: czytać (to read) PersonPolishEnglishIbędę czytaćI will readyou (singular)będziesz czytaćyou will readhebędzie czytaćhe will readshebędzie czytaćshe will readitbędzie czytaćit will readwebędziemy czytaćwe will readyou (plural)będziecie czytaćyou will readthey (masculine or mixed gender)będą czytaćthey will readthey (feminine)będą czytaćthey will read Conjugation of być in the Future PersonFormIbędęyou (singular)będzieszhe / she / itbędziewebędziemyyou (plural)będziecietheybędą Simple Future Verb: napisać (to write) PersonPolishEnglishInapiszęI will writeyou (singular)napiszeszyou will writehenapiszehe will writeshenapiszeshe will writeitnapiszeit will writewenapiszemywe will writeyou (plural)napiszecieyou will writethey (masculine or mixed gender)napisząthey will writethey (feminine)napisząthey will write Personal Pronouns EnglishPolishExampleIjaja będę czytaćyou (singular)tyty będziesz czytaćheonon będzie czytaćsheonaona będzie czytaćitonoono będzie czytaćwemymy będziemy czytaćyou (plural)wywy będziecie czytaćthey (masculine or mixed gender)onioni będą czytaćthey (feminine)oneone będą czytać Notes Perfective verbs do not have a true present tense; their present forms express future meaning. Imperfective verbs form the future with the auxiliary verb być. The compound future can also be formed with the past participle: będę czytał (masculine speaker) będę czytała (feminine speaker) Both będę czytać and będę czytał/czytała are correct.
