Minecraft resource gathering/Amethyst

Reference material by Wikibooks contributors. This retains its source identity and is not 411 news reporting.

Blocks of Amethyst are a building block, both found in Geodes, and able to be crafted from Amethyst Shards. Its texture is purple with sparkles, and it makes unique sounds when walked on, broken, placed or hit. Versions Blocks of Amethyst were added in the Caves and Cliffs Part 1 update (1.17), and first appeared in snapshot 20w45a. Acquiring Blocks of Amethyst generate inside Amethyst Geodes, which can be found underground at lower altitudes, starting from Y=30. Amethyst geodes have an outer layer of smooth basalt, a middle layer of calcite and an inner layer of amethyst. There are two types of Blocks of Amethyst: regular and Budding. Budding Amethyst has an X pattern on its block texture and grows Amethyst Buds over time, with the Buds maturing into Amethyst Clusters over time. Destroying the Budding Amethyst block with a pickaxe doesn't drop anything; the Silk Touch enchantment does not drop anything either. The Budding Amethyst block can not be moved by pistons, and can be exploded with TNT. Amethyst crystals can be farmed using a piston and observer. Four Amethyst Shards crafted in a 2x2 grid (like the crafting grid in your inventory) can be crafted into an Amethyst Block. 75%
