Dragon variation B27 Sicilian defence → Dragon variation → 6...Ng4
7. Ng4??
Black attacks White's bishop, but falls into a common amateur trap.It is the fourth move in the Lichess database, played over 24,000 times as of May 2026.
White's queen attack's Black's knight, but it is currently guarded by their light square bishop. 7. Bb5+ cuts off that protection.
If Black blocks the check with 7...Nd7, their bishop no longer guards g4. If 7...Bd7, the bishop becomes pinned and so also does not guard g4.
If 7...Nc6, White can trade knights, 8. Nxc6 (attacking the queen) bxc6, and 9. Bxc6+ forks the king and rook.
