not chess opening theory== 3. Bb5?! — Radium Gambit, Mohan Variation ==
3. Bb5?! is the Mohan Variation, with White responding by developing the bishop to b5. The two bishops face each other across the board, creating a mirrored position.
3... c6 attacks the Bishop.
3... a6 attacks the Bishop with a flank pawn.
3...Nf6 develops the knight and attacks White's e4-pawn.
3...Nc6?! develops naturally and reinforces Black's e5-pawn, but white can force a trade with 4. Bxc6 dxc6 (or 4...bxc6)
3...f6?! strengthens the e5-pawn and prepares further development but the center can get ''Cramped''.
Downsides: White's 3. Bb5?! does not immediately recover the e5-pawn or challenge Black's center. Both sides have spent developing their bishops, while the central tension remains.
The Mohan Variation is characterized by creating a mirrored bishop setup within the Radium Gambit.
