An IDE is an integrated development environment. A custom MathProg IDE for GLPK may offer:
syntax highlighting for the MathProg language
keyword completion and other convenience shortcuts
easy execution of the current model
model and results visualization
model version control
In addition, some IDEs are designed to be cross-platform in order to provide a similar experience on different operating systems — for instance, Windows, Mac, and Linux.
GLPK IDEs are distinct and different from application development IDEs, such as Microsoft Visual Studio.
