Caro-Kann - Advance Variation, Botvinnik-Carls Defense
5. Bb5 · Caro-Kann - Botvinnik-Carls Defence
More common at amateur level, and only occasionally played at master level, the bishop pin is not particularly threatening, and can probably best be met with 5...Qa6. With the pawn on c3, the bishop cannot be defended, and now is forced to either take or retreat.
