Topic: ORCID Affiliation Manager push Audience: Staff involved in research: Researchers, PGRs, Technicians Use case: Direct email: Let researchers know about upcoming ORCID Affiliation Manager push (sent via mail merge) Reuse under CC-BY Licence. Author: Mareike Wehner Subject: IMPORTANT: ORCID Affiliation Invitation Dear [name], As you might have seen in [newsletter, digital screens, blog, internal news story, departmental meeting etc.], the library has started an initiative around ORCID and affiliation invitations. This is relevant to you if you are or have been involved in research. If this is not the case, feel free to pass on the information to colleagues who are, and disregard any follow-up communication on this matter for yourself. [included graphic that was displayed on digital screens around campus here to have brand recognition, otherwise ORCID logo could be good - make sure to have small file size] LATER THIS WEEK, you will receive an email from ORCID with the subject line: ‘University of XXX would like to add a validated affiliation to your ORCID record’   Please do the following once you receive the email from ORCID: 1.       Click on the provided link in the email 2.       Log in to your ORCID profile with your usual credentials, or register for an ORCID ID if you don’t have one already (if you are unsure, ORCID can help) 3.       Accept the affiliation invitation by clicking ‘Authorize access’. This housekeeping exercise helps the University identify your publications and other activities, allows the library to add richer metadata about your affiliation and current role, and saves you time of updating your affiliation information within ORCID. It is not mandatory, but recommended. In return, you will receive a green tick which signifies a ‘trustworthy data source’ and higher visibility of your outputs and the acknowledgement of your participation in other data bases, as ORCID acts as a data source for other systems. To make the most of your profiles, please also connect ORCID, Scopus, WoS and any other profiles you might have within your [CRIS, e.g. PURE or Symplectic Elements] account, and allow for read & write set up with ORCID. [link to instructions, e.g. voice-over videos plus written description of step-by-step instructions] Further information can be found [insert link]. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact [contact name plus email address]. Thank you for your cooperation! Best wishes,
