Tayler Opening King's Knight Opening, Normal Variation
Tayler Opening
3. Be2
The Tayler Opening is a timid and less common response to 2...Nc6. Instead of going for an Italian, Ruy Lopez or Scotch, White chooses a quiet developing move that prepares castling kingside.
Black has multiple responses to this, such as:
3...Nf6, developing the knight and hitting the e4 pawn.
3...Bc5?, developing the bishop to an active square while eyeing f2, but allowing 4. Nxe5!
3...d6, reinforcing e5 even more and opening up the c8 bishop.
3...d5, aggressively attacking the center and opening the c8 bishop.
