Aeroacoustics/Introduction

Reference material by Wikibooks contributors. This retains its source identity and is not 411 news reporting.

Aeroacoustics is a branch of science which deals with aerodynamically generated noise. This is a relatively new branch of science which is known to be born by a celebrated paper of Sir James Lighthill in 1952. This paper, titled "On Sound Generated Aerodynamically. I. General Theory" was later proceeded by another Lighthill's original and ingenious paper , "On Sound Generated Aerodynamically. II. Turbulence as a Source of Sound" in 1954. These papers have been perhaps the most cited and well known papers among the aeroacoustic community. References M. J. Lighthill, "On Sound Generated Aerodynamically. I. General Theory," Proc. R.
