2... e5 — Miloṡ Defense: Main Line
2...e5 is the defining move of the Miloṡ Defense: Main Line, immediately challenging White's d4-pawn and establishing Black's own central presence.
3. dxe5 captures the e5-pawn and forces Black to decide how to regain the material (Exchange Variation).
3. Nf3 develops the knight while keeping pressure on Black's center.
Downsides: Black's 2...e5 commits to an early central confrontation and leaves the d6-pawn temporarily responsible for maintaining the structure. White can choose between exchanging on e5 or building a larger center with e4.
An independent line is 1. d4 d6 2. Nc3 e5 3. e4 Nf6 4. Nf3, where White establishes a broad center and Black develops actively against it.
The Miloṡ Defense: Main Line is characterized by 1. d4 d6 2. Nc3 e5.
