24 (12 Hearts) In outposts and patrols. Illager Ranged:
Easy: 2 - 3 (1 - 1.5 Hearts)
Normal: 3 - 5 (1.5 - 2.5 Hearts)
Hard: 5 - 7 (2.5 - 3.5 Hearts) Pillagers go around, looking for villages and players to be raided by other illagers later on. They will attack you with a crossbow, which may be enchanted. Sometimes they may spawn riding a ravanger, but only during a raid. *0 - 1 arrows
a crossbow 8.5% chance + 1% per level of Looting enchantment
an ominous bottle (raid captain in version 1.21 onward which isn't participated in a raid)

Sometimes, in certain biomes, including plains and savanna, several pillagers will spawn in a group. One of them will be a captain.
==Captains ==
A captain is a pillager with a banner on its back. Killing them will give you an ominous bottle. When drank, you will get a bad omen debuff, which will cause a raid to start the next time you enter a village, or an ominous trial when visiting a trial chambers.
