Teaching Elementary School Health Education/Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs/Drug Misuse/Stimulants

Reference material by Wikibooks contributors. This retains its source identity and is not 411 news reporting.

Stimulants are drugs that effect the central nervous system. They speed up the activities that occur. They are sometimes called "uppers". Stimulants cause blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing rate to increase. The "up" feeling is usually followed by a "down" feeling (fatigue, weak, depressed). Some types of stimulants are cocaine, crack, amphetamines, methamphetamines, methcathinone, ephedrine, MDMA, Methylphenidate, and caffeine.
