Metropolitan Area Network MAN is a network designed to be used by a metropolitan area, such as a city or a county; therefore, most MANs are owned by the city that has sole discretion over its operation. Wireless MANs are also known as municipal Wi-Fi projects and benefit the area residents of a city or large organization because it is free of charge. Funding for these networks usually comes from the local taxes of the residents.
