Using GNOME/Run Application

Run application lets you run an Application by its command name directly, rather than selecting it from the menu.
To use "run application".
Select "Run Application" from the menu (Note: this menu item is now gone as of Gnome 2.12)
Press Alt+F2 keys.
Options
Run in terminal runs the program in the terminal. This is used when running terminal based programs.
