What Is A Historical Construct?
A historical construct is an idea that groups human behavior and human actions together, bound by social norms.
According to ThoughtCo.com "A historical construct is an idea, concept, or category created, shaped, and given meaning by human societies during a specific period. Rather than being fixed, natural, or absolute truths, historical constructs emerge from specific cultural, political, and economic conditions and change as history unfolds."
An example of a historical construct are men who belong to the Whig party wearing wigs.
Collective beliefs form most historical constructs. These beliefs evolve as we gather better information. As human perspectives change, our mental constructs change.
Many writers attempt to reconstruct History from new perspectives, or through a modern cultural lens.
