Barcelona Atlétic competed in the Lliga catalana and the Copa Catalana. The team had been formed in November 1988, when another local team, Gràcia Cal Majó, merged with CF Barcelona. This merger occurred before the leagues had begun that season, with Barcelona set to compete in the newly created Liga Nacional and Gràcia Cal Majó in the now-secondary Lliga catalana. Both teams had already competed in the group stage of the Copa Catalana (a direct predecessor of the Copa Catalunya), and in the same group, with both advancing to the knockout stages.https://hemeroteca.mundodeportivo.com/preview/1988/11/11/pagina-32/1186424/pdf.html 11 November 1988 32 Mundo Deportivo es Xavier Homenaje a la jugadora del Español Mallol Tribute match for Espanyol player Mallol Two Gràcia Cal Majó players at the start of the season – Àfrica Ocaña and Gemma Homar – were already included in the Catalan national team at the time of the merger, and had been integrated into the CF Barcelona team (instead of remaining with Barcelona Atlètic) by March 1989.https://hemeroteca.mundodeportivo.com/preview/1989/03/21/pagina-31/1195792/pdf.html Catalunya debuta hoy ante Aragon Catalunya debuts today against Aragon es Mundo Deportivo 21 March 1989 31 League Barcelona Atlètic started the league strong in their first match before suffering three tough defeats in a row.
