In their second year under head coach Tommy Tuberville, Tigers team compiled an overall record of 9–4 with a mark of 6–2 in conference play, winning the SEC's Western Division title. Auburn advanced to the SEC Championship Game, losing to Florida Citrus Bowl. The Tigers were then invited to the Florida Citrus Bowl, where they lost to Michigan. The team played home games at Jordan–Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama. Tuberville led the Tigers to their first winning season since 1997, their second SEC Championship Game appearance, and a New Year's Day appearance in the Florida Citrus Bowl, which marked the Tigers return to a bowl game for the first time in three years. Auburn shut out rival Alabama, 9–0, on November 18 in the first Iron Bowl game played in Tuscaloosa since 1901. The Tigers finished the season ranked No. 18 in the AP poll and No. 20 in the Coaches Poll.2000 College Football Polls https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/years/2000-polls.html College Football at Sports-Reference.com January 11, 2025 Schedule 2000 AP Central August 31 7:00 pm w y Wyoming Jordan–Hare Stadium Auburn, AL ESPN 35–21 76,128 https://www.newspapers.com/article/birmingham-post-herald-rudimentary-juco/157482517/ Birmingham Post-Herald Rudimentary, JUCO transfer grounds Tigers' running joke to a halt September 1, 2000 October 20, 2024 Newspapers.com September 9 6:00 pm w y Ole Miss 19 Vaught–Hemingway Stadium Oxford, MS rivalry ESPN2 35–27 52,368 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-anniston-star-ground-game-passes-tes/157482599/ The Anniston Star Ground game passes test September 10, 2000 October 20, 2024 Newspapers.com September 16 6:30 pm w 24 LSU Jordan–Hare Stadium Auburn, AL Tiger Bowl ESPN 34–17 85,612 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-opelika-auburn-news-auburn-pounds-ls/157482668/ The Opelika-Auburn News Auburn pounds LSU September 17, 2000 October 20, 2024 Newspapers.com September 23 4:00 pm w y 20 Northern Illinois Jordan–Hare Stadium Auburn, AL PPV 31–14 79,635 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-dothan-eagle-tiger-romp-auburn-make/157482743/ The Dothan Eagle Tiger romp;
