electronic vote tabulation machines from Dominion Voting in a provincial election. They had previously been used in New Brunswick municipal elections. On election night, the machines displayed vote totals which were verified by Elections New Brunswick officials and entered into a province-wide database for the media. By 11:45 PM, these unverified numbers were to have been replaced by totally machine-reported numbers from the tabulators themselves with no human interventions or errors possible to distort results. It was "a program processing the initial results that had a glitch", not the tabulators themselves, according to officials.Patrick Odell Vote tabulators not to blame for N.B. election results glitches: official http://globalnews.ca/news/1577929/vote-tabulators-not-to-blame-for-n-b-election-results-glitches-official/ Global News September 23, 2014 September 23, 2014 September 26, 2014 https://web.archive.org/web/20140926031531/http://globalnews.ca/news/1577929/vote-tabulators-not-to-blame-for-n-b-election-results-glitches-official/ live Elections New Brunswick grew uncomfortable with the human involvement and influence of the unevenly tabulated results. It brought the results reporting to a standstill as counts were reverified by hand before further resignations or concessions were triggered. At 10:45 p.m. Atlantic time, Elections New Brunswick officially suspended the results reporting count, with 17 ridings still undeclared, while it investigated the delay.Liberals win majority in N.B. election amid vote-counting problems http://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/liberals-win-majority-in-n-b-election-amid-vote-counting-problems-1.2019318 CTV News Atlantic September 23, 2014 September 23, 2014 November 15, 2020 https://web.archive.org/web/20201115030055/https://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/liberals-win-majority-in-n-b-election-amid-vote-counting-problems-1.2019318 dead It called for over sixty tabulator count devices to be brought to central locations for verification without relying on the reporting program. At no time was there an allegation of fraud by any party or public official. As a result of the controversy, both the Progressive Conservatives and the People's Alliance Party called for a hand count of all ballots, with the former refusing to concede the election until the following day. Michael Quinn, the province's chief electoral officer determined no total recount was necessary. Recounts were held in 7 of 49 ridings and the results were upheld with variations of no more than 1 vote per candidate per riding.https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/recounts-in-new-brunswick-confirm-election-night-results-1.2787839 CBC.ca - watch, listen, and discover with Canada's Public Broadcaster CBC 11 April 2018 15 November 2020 https://web.archive.org/web/20201115030108/https://www.cbc.ca/ live Results by region Party NameNorthernMiramichiSoutheasternSouthernCapital RegionUpper River ValleyTotal NB Liberal rowLiberal Seats82941327 NB Liberal row Popular Vote58.12%45.34%46.52%34.30%29.27%43.00%42.72% NB PC rowProgressiveConservative Seats01576221 NB PC row Popular Vote25.51%40.30%31.13%40.29%35.79%43.61%34.65% NB NDP rowNew Democratic Seats0000000 NB NDP row Popular Vote11.49%6.01%11.76%16.50%18.37%7.67%12.98% NB Green rowGreen Seats0000101 NB Green row Popular Vote2.42%3.10%9.44%5.83%9.65%4.35%6.61% NB PANB rowPeople's Alliance Seats0000000 NB PANB row Popular Vote0.00%2.83%1.15%2.53%6.33%0.46%2.14% NB Independent rowIndependent Seats0000000 NB Independent row Popular Vote2.46%2.43%0.00%0.55%0.59%0.90%0.89%Total seats8314118549 Results by place + Candidates ranked 1st to 5th place, by party Parties 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5thNB Liberal colour&name27 18 4 NB PC colour&name21 26 2 NB Green colour&name1 1 4 34 6NB NDP colour&name 3 35 11 NB PANB colour&name 1 2 1 14NB Independent colour&name 2 1 4 Opinion polls Polling FirmLast Day of PollingLink PC Liberal NDP Green PAForum Research September 21, 2014PDF4040126Corporate Research AssociatesSeptember 18, 2014HTML36451162Forum ResearchSeptember 11, 2014PDF3242136Corporate Research AssociatesAugust 31, 2014HTML28481742Forum ResearchAugust 25, 2014HTML3146157Nordic Research GroupAugust 21, 2014HTML2634135Corporate Research AssociatesMay 31, 2014HTML2853163Corporate Research AssociatesFebruary 28, 2014PDF3143214Corporate Research AssociatesNovember 28, 2013HTML2547244Corporate Research AssociatesSeptember 1, 2013PDF23472443Corporate Research AssociatesMay 30, 2013PDF29412731Corporate Research AssociatesMarch 8, 2013PDF https://web.archive.org/web/20130403101320/http://cra.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/13-1-NB-Press-Release.pdf 2013-04-03 3235265Corporate Research AssociatesDecember 1, 2012PDF38381941Corporate Research AssociatesAugust 31, 2012PDF3832246Corporate Research AssociatesMay 30, 2012PDF4432195Corporate Research AssociatesFebruary 29, 2012PDF4531223Corporate Research AssociatesNovember 29, 2011PDF45282331Corporate Research AssociatesAugust 31, 2011PDF4134232Corporate Research AssociatesMay 31, 2011PDF56202013Corporate Research AssociatesFebruary 28, 2011PDF582786Corporate Research AssociatesNovember 30, 2010PDF6125104 Election 2010September 27, 2010HTML48.834.510.44.61.2 Retiring incumbents The following sitting members of the legislative assembly (MLAs) had announced that they would not re-offer at this election: Progressive Conservatives John Betts, MLA for Moncton Crescent (1999–2014)http://www.princegeorgecitizen.com/news/national/new-brunswick-tory-john-betts-says-he-won-t-run-in-september-election-1.916320 New Brunswick Tory John Betts says he won't run in September election - National Prince George Citizen 2014-08-23 2014-08-27 https://web.archive.org/web/20141218131055/http://www.princegeorgecitizen.com/news/national/new-brunswick-tory-john-betts-says-he-won-t-run-in-september-election-1.916320 2014-12-18 dead Jack Carr, MLA for New Maryland-Sunbury West (2008–2014)The Staff http://metronews.ca/news/canada/917642/new-brunswick-tory-wont-seek-re-election/ New Brunswick Tory won't seek re-election | Metro Metronews.ca 2014-01-22 2014-08-27 https://web.archive.org/web/20140324201455/http://metronews.ca/news/canada/917642/new-brunswick-tory-wont-seek-re-election/ 2014-03-24 dead Greg Davis, MLA for Campbellton-Restigouche Centre (2010–2014)https://twitter.com/poitrasCBC/status/443483244873252865 Jacques Poitras on Twitter: Campbellton-Restigouche Centre MLA Greg Davis has announced he won't run for re-election this fall. #NB Twitter.com 2014-03-11 2014-08-27 2014-03-23 https://web.archive.org/web/20140323072656/https://twitter.com/poitrasCBC/status/443483244873252865 live Dale Graham, MLA for Carleton (1995–2014) and Carleton North (1993–1995)https://twitter.com/poitrasCBC/status/446751038381780994 Jacques Poitras on Twitter: Seeing reports that Speaker Dale Graham has made it official: he won't run in election this fall.
