Irish League 1919–20 30 August 1919 –6 December 1919 Belfast Celtic 3rd Irish title 56 145 Glentoran 6–0 Bohemians Glenavon 1–7 Distillery Distillery 7–3 Shelbourne 1914–15 (Official)1918–19 (Unofficial) 1920–21 The 1919–20 Irish League was the 26th edition of the Irish League, the highest level of league competition in Irish football. The league comprised eight teams and Belfast Celtic won the championship for the 3rd time. Season summary The league championship resumed after a four-year suspension due to the First World War; during the war teams had competed locally in the Belfast & District League (between 1915–16 and 1918–19) or the Leinster Senior League. The teams that played in this season were the same teams that last competed in the 1914–15 season. Due to the political upheaval resulting from the Irish War of Independence, Belfast Celtic, Shelbourne and Bohemians all withdrew from the league with the conclusion of this season. Shelbourne and Bohemians later joined the new League of Ireland while Belfast Celtic would return to the Irish League in 1924–25.Football in Northern Ireland: A Statistical Record 1881-2005 Alex Graham 2005 37–38 Teams and locations island of Ireland right 300 Location of teams in the 1919–20 Irish League island of Ireland 54.602945 -5.891278 top Belfast island of Ireland 53.356903 -6.259648 top Dublin island of Ireland 54.453889 -6.336389 bottom Glenavon island of Ireland TransparentPlaceholder.png 1 55.43 -10.93 Belfast teamsBelfast CelticCliftonvilleDistilleryGlentoranLinfield island of Ireland TransparentPlaceholder.png 1 55.43 -8.93 Dublin teamsBohemiansShelbourne Greater Belfast 300 right Location of Belfast teams in the 1919–20 Irish League season Greater Belfast 54.58892 -5.961671 left Belfast Celtic Greater Belfast 54.619250 -5.947383 right Cliftonville Greater Belfast 54.59285 -5.945363 top Distillery Greater Belfast 54.60270 -5.893478 right Glentoran Greater Belfast 54.57083 -5.963302 bottom Linfield Dublin 300 right Location of Dublin teams in the 1919–20 Irish League season Dublin 53.36203 -6.274652 top Bohemians Dublin 53.34038 -6.230236 bottom Shelbourne Team Town Home Ground Belfast Celtic Belfast Celtic Park Bohemians Dublin Dalymount Park Cliftonville Belfast Solitude Distillery Belfast Grosvenor Park Glenavon Lurgan Mourneview Park Glentoran Belfast The Oval Linfield Belfast Windsor Park Shelbourne Dublin Shelbourne Park League standings main WDL 5 Result 2 y BCE Belfast Celtic DIS Distillery GLT Glentoran SHE Shelbourne LIN Linfield GLV Glenavon CLI Cliftonville BOH Bohemians 10 3 1 27 6 7 6 1 26 9 8 3 3 29 10 3 7 4 16 21 4 4 6 8 11 3 4 7 21 28 2 5 7 11 22 2 2 10 7 38 C green1 Champions, Withdrew WD red1 Withdrew R R complete rsssf.com Results main FBR grey BCE BOH CLI DIS GLV GLT LIN SHE Belfast Celtic 0–0 1–0 1–0 1–0 3–0 4–0 5–0 Distillery 0–0 2–2 7–3 1–0 0–0 0–0 4–1 Glentoran 2–0 1–0 4–0 2–0 4–0 3–1 6–0 Shelbourne 1–1 0–0 2–0 0–0 3–3 2–1 0–0 Linfield 1–3 1–2 1–0 1–0 2–0 1–1 0–1 Glenavon 1–2 1–7 1–3 0–0 0–0 2–3 5–1 Cliftonville 1–2 0–1 0–0 2–2 0–0 0–4 2–0 Bohemians 0–4 0–2 2–2 1–3 0–1 0–4 1–0 complete Irish League Archive References External links Northern Ireland - List of final tables (RSSSF) Association football Northern Ireland Category:NIFL Premiership seasons Ireland Irish
