It is about the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Synopsis The film is a dramatisation of events that happened during the 1994 genocide against Tutsi people in Rwanda. It focuses on the life of a young, refugee Tutsi girl, Josette, and her attempts to find safety while the genocide is taking place. She enters a church that is purportedly a sanctuary protected by UN forces, but the church's Hutu priest agrees to spare her life only in exchange for being raped.https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/africa/welcome-to-hillywood-how-rwandas-film-industry-emerged-from-genocides-shadow-463541.html https://ghostarchive.org/archive/20220501/https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/africa/welcome-to-hillywood-how-rwandas-film-industry-emerged-from-genocides-shadow-463541.html 1 May 2022 live Welcome to Hillywood: how Rwanda's film industry emerged from genocide's shadow The Independent Bloomfield Steve 30 August 2007 Cast Eric Bridges Twahirwa Cleophas Kabasita Davis Kagenza Mazimpaka Kennedy Davis Kwizera David Mulwa Didier Ndengeyintwali Denis Nsanzamahoro Justin Rusandazangabo Production The film was the first feature film made about the 1994 Rwandan genocide.Kabera, Eric African Film Festival, Inc. https://africanfilmny.org/directors/eric-kabera/ 15 June 2025Eric Kabera (Kwetu Film Institute) Changing the Story University of Leeds https://www.changingthestory.leeds.ac.uk/profiles/cesar-kwetu/ 15 June 2025 It employed no professional actors; rather the filmmakers used actual Tutsi and Hutu survivors to act out the script, and was shot on location at the actual scenes where acts of genocide occurred. http://www.onthemedia.org/transcripts/2002/11/22/08 On The Media: Transcript of " "100 Days in Rwanda" 22 November 2002 onthemedia.org 2009-02-28 Gladstone Brooke https://web.archive.org/web/20090109015317/http://www.onthemedia.org/transcripts/2002/11/22/08 9 January 2009 dead dmy-all The title of the film is a direct reference to the length of time that passed from the beginning of the genocide on 6 April until it ended in mid-July 1994.
