Kansas was forced by the Big Eight Conference to forfeit this game after beating Kansas State on the field. Kerwin Bell, a Kansas running back was later determined to be ineligible at the time of the game. However, this was not an NCAA sanction and the Big Eight conference no longer exists legally, so Kansas claims the victory and the NCAA considers KU to be the winner of the 1980 game as well. this game Kansas–Kansas State football rivalry#1980: The forfeit Roster 1980 Kansas State Wildcats f 80 So Mike Cox TE 4 So Darrell Ray Dickey QB 12 Fr Stan Weber QB y 77 Jr Doug Hoppock T y 20 Jr Kenny Smith RB 51 Sr Pat Sura C 60 Sr Monte Bennett DE y 76 Sr Stevan Clark DT y 93 Sr Mitch Foote LB 99 So Mike Orr LB 41 Sr Steve Schuster CB 57 Jr Jack Williamson LB 7 Jr Jim Jackson K *Jim Dickey Gary Darnell – Defensive Coordinator & assistant head coach Carl Selmer – Offensive line Mo Lattimore – Defensive ends Chuck Driesbach – Defensive backs Jim Davie – Assistant Jim Donnan – Assistant Dennis Franchione – Assistant George Walstad – Assistant References Kansas State Category:Kansas State Wildcats football seasons Kansas State Wildcats football
