Brooklyn Visitations American Basketball League (revived original) 1938 15 25 John Donlon John Donlon Unknown (John Donlon?) Grand Prospect Hall 3rd (1st half); 6th (2nd half) Did not qualify Paterson / Brooklyn Visitations
The 1937–38 Brooklyn Visitations season was their seventeenth professional basketball season in Brooklyn, New York, as well as their fifth season in what would be the revived version of the American Basketball League (though if one were to include the original ABL seasons they played in with the revived version of the ABL, the Visitations would appear in eight total seasons (seven full total seasons) within the combined operations of the American Basketball League instead).1938 Brooklyn Visitations en RetroSeasons 2023-03-21 2026-08-21 https://www.retroseasons.com/teams/brooklyn-visitations/1938/overview/ For the last time in the Visitations' history within the revived version of the ABL, this season would see the ABL utilize the split season format once again with the Brooklyn Visitations staying in Brooklyn for the entire season, though this season originally saw seven teams competing in the revived league this time around before it decreased down to six teams by the start of the second half of the season once the basketball version of the New York Yankees ended up leaving the ABL by the end of the first half of the season. On that note, despite this team not having future Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Bobby McDermott on the team at all, during the first half of the season, the Visitations would end that half of the season with an above-average 13–10 record, which would be the last time they would finish a half of a season with a winning record. However, that record would still end up placing them behind the New Haven / New York Jewels and the Jersey Reds during this half season. Worse yet, the second half of the season would see the Visitations perform even worse as a team somehow, as they would only win two total games for that half of the season for a very poor 2–15 for a dead last finish to end the season on a poor note. Because Brooklyn failed to win the first half of the season in spite of their poor record for the second half of the season, the Visitations would fail to qualify for the ABL championship series once again.
