2004–05 Aston Villa F.C. season

English football club season December 2014 December 2014 Recent history of Aston Villa Aston Villa records and statistics Aston Villa 2004–05 David O'Leary Doug Ellis FA Premier League 10th FA Cup Third round League Cup Third round Nolberto Solano (8) Nolberto SolanoJuan Pablo Ángel (9) _vneck 88A7E0 970045 88A7E0 FFFFFF 88A7E0 _vneck FFFFFF FFFFFF FFFFFF 88A7E0 FFFFFF 2003–04 2005–06 Second City Derby 46--36--28 2003–04 2005–06 The 2004–05 English football season was Aston Villa's 13th season in the Premier League and their second season under the management of David O'Leary. Villa went into the season with high hopes after finishing sixth during the 2003–04 FA Premier League season, despite an inconsistent start Villa soon begun to string wins together and threaten the top six but in the run up to Christmas Villas form dropped alarmingly and they fell away quickly, occasional wins put any relegation worry's astray as they underachieved and eventually secured a tenth-place finish. There were debuts for Steven Davis (91), Martin Laursen (84), Carlton Cole (27), Mathieu Berson (11), and Eric Djemba-Djemba (11).https://www.avfchistory.co.uk/villa-seasons Aston Villa's Seasons AVFC History Kit Supplier Sponsor Hummel DWS Investments Premier League 2004–05 FA Premier League AST Matches table b Matchday Ground H/A/A/H/H/A/H/A/A/H/A/H/A/H/A/H/H/A/A/H/H/A/H/A/A/H/A/H/H/A/A/H/A/H/H/A/H/A Result W/D/L/W/D/D/D/D/L/W/D/W/W/W/L/D/L/L/L/L/W/L/W/L/D/L/W/L/W/L/W/D/W/D/D/L/L/L Position 2/3/10/5/7/7/8/8/11/8/10/6/5/5/6/6/6/8/10/11/9/9/10/10/11/11/10/10/10/11/10/10/9/9/9/10/10/10 Home Away green2 Win yellow2 Draw red2 Loss 1st 2nd 3rd green2 blue1 red1 https://www.11v11.com/teams/aston-villa/tab/matches/season/2005/ Aston Villa match record: 2005 1 14 August 2004 Aston Villa 2–0 Southampton Vassell 12Cole 34 Villa Park Birmingham 36,690 W https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-2-0-southampton 2 22 August 2004 West Bromwich Albion 1–1 Aston Villa Clement 38 Mellberg 4 The Hawthorns West Bromwich 26,485 D https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-1-1-west-bromwich-albion-a 3 25 August 2004 Charlton Athletic 3–0 Aston Villa Jeffers 29 34Young 39 The Valley London 26,161 L https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-0-3-charlton-athletic-a 4 28 August 2004 Aston Villa 4–2 Newcastle United Mellberg 4Cole 53Barry 71Ángel 82 Kluivert 28O'Brien 36 Villa Park Birmingham 36,305 W https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-4-2-newcastle-united 5 11 September 2004 Aston Villa 0–0 Chelsea Villa Park Birmingham 36,691 D https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-0-0-chelsea 6 18 September 2004 Norwich City 0–0 Aston Villa Carrow Road Norwich 23,805 D https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-0-0-norwich-city-a 7 25 September 2004 Aston Villa 1–1 Crystal Palace Hendrie 36 Johnson 6 Villa Park Birmingham 34,843 D https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-1-1-crystal-palace 8 2 October 2004 Blackburn Rovers 2–2 Aston Villa Ferguson 29Emerton 63 Ángel 25Mellberg 80 Ewood Park Blackburn 20,502 D https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-2-2-blackburn-rovers-a 9 16 October 2004 Arsenal 3–1 Aston Villa Pires 19 pen. 71Henry 45+1 Hendrie 3 Highbury London 38,137 L https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-1-3-arsenal-a 10 23 October 2004 Aston Villa 2–0 Fulham Solano 29Hendrie 75 Villa Park Birmingham 34,460 W https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-2-0-fulham 11 30 October 2004 Everton 1–1 Aston Villa Bent 32 Hendrie 26 Goodison Park Liverpool 37,816 D https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-1-1-everton-a 12 6 November 2004 Aston Villa 3–0 Portsmouth Whittingham 18Ángel 25Solano 40 Villa Park Birmingham 32,633 W https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-3-0-portsmouth 13 13 November 2004 Bolton Wanderers 1–2 Aston Villa Diouf 21 McCann 41Hitzlsperger 88 Reebok Stadium Bolton 25,779 W https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-2-1-bolton-wanderers-a 14 22 November 2004 Aston Villa 1–0 Tottenham Hotspur Solano 57 Villa Park Birmingham 35,702 W https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-1-0-tottenham-hotspur 15 27 November 2004 Manchester City 2–0 Aston Villa Macken 29Wright-Phillips 37 Hendrie 0 90+1 City of Manchester Stadium Manchester 45,805 L https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-0-2-manchester-city-a 16 4 December 2004 Aston Villa 1–1 Liverpool Solano 44 Kewell 16 Villa Park Birmingham 42,593 D https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-1-1-liverpool 17 12 December 2004 Aston Villa 1–2 Birmingham City Barry 90+2 Morrison 9Dunn 18 Villa Park Birmingham 41,329 L https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-1-2-birmingham-city 18 18 December 2004 Middlesbrough 3–0 Aston Villa Hasselbaink 20Job 69Reiziger 88 Riverside Stadium Middlesbrough 31,338 L https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-0-3-middlesbrough-a 19 26 December 2004 Chelsea 1–0 Aston Villa Duff 30 Stamford Bridge London 41,988 L https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-0-1-chelsea-a 20 28 December 2004 Aston Villa 0–1 Manchester United Giggs 41 Villa Park Birmingham 42,593 L https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-0-1-manchester-united 21 1 January 2005 Aston Villa 1–0 Blackburn Rovers Solano 88 Villa Park Birmingham 34,265 W https://avdb.co.uk/aston-villa/matches/first-team/2004-05-villa-1-0-blackburn-rovers 22 3 January 2005 Crystal Palace 2–0 Aston Villa Johnson 33 65 pen.
