1990–91 Scottish Premier Division

85th season of top-tier football league in Scotland March 2026 Scottish Premier Division 1990–91 Rangers 6th Premier Division title 41st Scottish title European Cup Rangers UEFA Cup Aberdeen Celtic Cup Winners' Cup Motherwell IRE Tommy Coyne (Celtic, 18) 180 447 1989–90 1991–92 The 1990–91 Scottish Premier Division season was won by Rangers, two points ahead of Aberdeen. Rangers had seemed on course for a comfortable victory in the championship, but a loss of form around the time of manager Graeme Souness leaving the club allowed a surging Aberdeen to take the lead in the championship after 35 games. The two clubs played a league-deciding match against one another in the final game of the season at Ibrox (only the second time the championship had been settled on the last day between the challengers, after 1965 – it would occur again in 2026).https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/scot_prem/7410206.stm SPL title battle hangs in balance David McDaid BBC Sport BBC 20 May 2008 1 March 2013The 4 rare final-day winner-takes-all Scottish premiership title deciders, Laura Pollock, The National via Yahoo!
