January 2025 1975 US Open ESP 1945 Manuel Orantes USA Jimmy Connors 6–4, 6–3, 6–3 128 16 1975 US Open (tennis) Manuel Orantes defeated defending champion Jimmy Connors in the final, 6–4, 6–3, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1975 US Open. It was his only major singles title. Orantes saved five match points en route to the title, against Guillermo Vilas in the semifinals. This was the first of three editions of the US Open to be held on clay courts, previously being played on grass courts.
