1995 Andorran local elections

none The 1995 Andorran local elections were held on 3 December. Voters elected the council members of the seven parishes. They were the first local elections after the legalisation of political parties in 1993. Electoral system The electoral law was changed together with the approval of the new Constitution and the legalisation of political parties. Voters elect the members of the municipal councils (consells de comú in Catalan). The electoral law allows the municipal councils to choose their numbers of seats, which must be an even number between 10 and 16. All city council members are elected in single multi-member districts, consisting of the whole parish, using closed lists. Half of the seats are allocated to the party with the most votes. The other half of the seats are allocated using the Hare quota (including the winning party). With this system the winning party obtains an absolute majority. The cònsol major (mayor) and the cònsol menor (deputy mayor) are elected indirectly by the municipal councillors.https://www.bopa.ad/bopa/026068/Pagines/la26068002.aspx Decret legislatiu del 26-11-2014 pel que s'aprova el text refós de la Llei qualificada del règim electoral i del referèndum. 2015-12-10 Govern d'Andorra ca Results Overall Following the elections, two women were elected cònsols majors (mayors) for first time in Andorra.La Vanguardia, 04-12-1995, p.10 Party Votes % SeatsNew Democracy2,07729.614Liberal Party1,53121.810National Democratic Group1,12416.020Union and Progress4967.12Liberal Opinion Group4035.78Parochial Forum1542.23Independents1,24017.723Blank votes1,030––Invalid votes39––Total8,09410080Registered voters/turnout10,41177.7– Canillo Party Votes % SeatsBibiana Rossa (IND)22359.211Parochial Forum15440.83Blank votes17––Invalid votes4––Total39810014Registered voters/turnout47683.6– Encamp Party Votes % SeatsNational Democratic Group55552.88Union and Progress49647.22Blank votes80––Invalid votes4––Total1,13510010Registered voters/turnout1,37382.7– Ordino Party Votes % SeatsJosep Duró (IND)16342.87Bonaventura Espot (IND)11329.72Pere Babi (IND)10527.61Blank votes15––Invalid votes0––Total39610010Registered voters/turnout49779.7– La Massana Party Votes % SeatsLiberal Opinion Group40364.08New Democracy22736.02Blank votes55––Invalid votes1––Total68610010Registered voters/turnout81484.3– Andorra la Vella Party Votes % SeatsNew Democracy1,35461.910Liberal Party83538.12Blank votes273––Invalid votes4––Total2,46610012Registered voters/turnout3,22776.4– Sant Julià de Lòria Party Votes % SeatsNational Democratic Group56910012Blank votes479––Invalid votes20––Total1,06810012Registered voters/turnout1,60966.4– Escaldes-Engordany Party Votes % SeatsLiberal Party69638.18Jacint Casal (IND)63634.82Democratic National Initiative–New Democracy49627.12Blank votes111––Invalid votes6––Total1,94510012Registered voters/turnout2,41580.5– References External links Election results (Government of Andorra)June 2023 InternetArchiveBot yes 1995 Andorra Local elections Andorran local elections
