The Illinois Cycling Club played the Cycling Club from Lake View for the "Chicago Cycling Club Championship" on Thanksgiving Day. The prize was a white rooster that had been traded by the two teams since at least the year prior. In 1894, Illinois Cycling Club defeated the Lake View Cycling Club to take possession of this rooster, which became their team mascot. Lake View CC was undefeated coming into the contest,1895-11-28 LAKE VIEW WANTS ITS ROOSTER. 2 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51168765/lake-view-wants-its-rooster/ 2020-05-15 but fell to the Illinois cyclists 0 to 16 in front of a Thanksgiving crowd of 2,000, which was exactly the same as the final score for the 1894 contest. After the game, Lake View asserted that the game would not count to determine the championship, as the field was snowy and small. Illinois agreed, and the championship was split between the two teams.1895-11-30 LAKE VIEW PROTESTS THE GAME. 6 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51171044/lake-view-protests-the-game/ 2020-05-15 Schedule October 5 w Austin Athletic Club Austin, IL 18–0 1895-10-06 Illinois Cycling club vs the Austins 7 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51140843/illinois-cycling-club-vs-the-austins/ 2020-05-15 October 12 w Riverside Athletic Club Riverside, IL 16–6 1895-10-14 Clipped From Chicago Tribune 5 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/17670908/chicago-tribune/ 2020-05-15 October 19 3:30 p.m. l Rush–Lake Forest Douglas Park Chicago, IL 6–10 1895-10-19 Lake Forest to Play the Bikes 6 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51149570/lake-forest-to-play-the-bikes/ 2020-05-151895-10-20 BICYCLISTS PLAY HARD FOOTBALL. 6 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51150012/bicyclists-play-hard-football/ 2020-05-15 w Chicago Physicians and Surgeons 18–0 1895-12-05 MADE A GOOD RECORD. 4 The Inter Ocean https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51171940/made-a-good-record/ 2020-05-15 November 2 w Palatine Athletic Club Palantine, IL 32–0 1895-11-02 Illinois Cycling Club vs Palatines 4 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51151522/illinois-cycling-club-vs-palatines/ 2020-05-151895-11-03 Illinois Cycling Club vs Palatine Athletic Club 4 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51153299/illinois-cycling-club-vs-palatine/ 2020-05-15 November 7 l Notre Dame Brownson Hall field Notre Dame, IN 2–18 1895-11-08 Illinois Cycling Club Defeated 3 The South Bend Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51121565/illinois-cycling-club-defeated/ 2020-05-15 November 9 w Proviso Giants Maywood, IL 34–0 1895-11-09 Football Games Scheduled for Today. 7 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51155425/football-games-scheduled-for-today/ 2020-05-151895-11-10 CYCLISTS WIN A GAME AT MAYWOOD 4 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51156348/cyclists-win-a-game-at-maywood/ 2020-05-15 November 28 10:00 a.m. w Lake View Cycling Club Northwest City League Ball Park Chicago, IL 16–0 Chicago Cycling Club Championship 2,000 1895-11-03 Illinois Cycling Club Will Enjoy Life. 9 The Inter Ocean https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51152637/illinois-cycling-club-will-enjoy-life/ 2020-05-151895-11-21 Illinois Cyclers and Lake View. 4 The Inter Ocean https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51158901/illinois-cyclers-and-lake-view/ 2020-05-151895-11-26 Cyclists to Play for a Rooster 8 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51165778/cyclists-to-play-for-a-rooster/ 2020-05-151895-11-26 WILL CONTEST FOR THE ROOSTER. 4 The Inter Ocean https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51166672/will-contest-for-the-rooster/ 2020-05-151895-11-28 LAKE VIEW WANTS ITS ROOSTER. 2 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51168765/lake-view-wants-its-rooster/ 2020-05-151895-11-29 WINS IT A SECOND TIME. 3 Chicago Tribune https://www.newspapers.com/clip/51169848/wins-it-a-second-time/ 2020-05-15 Second team schedule The Cycling Club's second team played one game, against the secondary from Irving Park on Thanksgiving.
