During men's single semi final match between Fung Permadi and Peter Gade, a historical decision was made by Permadi. The score was 14 all in the third set with Gade held the match point. Commonly, a serve receiver will opt for deuce. At odds Permadi refused it. Disturbed with the peculiar, Gade fouled his serve then returned Permadi's serve to the net and lost the match by the score 14–15. The same scenario happened in the women final match. Camilla Martin chose not to play the deuce and won against Dai Yun. She was engaged to Gade then and subsequently avenged for her fiancée. Host city selection Copenhagen, Denmark, was chosen over Gothenburg, Sweden, as the host for 1999 IBF World Championships.Asien byder https://www.b.dk/sport/asien-byder Berlingske.sk 19 February 2018 22 April 1999 Medalists Medal table DEN flagcountry 2 1 4 1 0 5 0 1 1 2 2 1 0 1 0 Events Men's SinglesChina Sun JunTPE Fung PermadiDenmark Peter GadeDenmark Poul-Erik Høyer LarsenWomen's SinglesDenmark Camilla MartinChina Dai YunChina Gong RuinaDenmark Mette SørensenMen's DoublesSouth Korea Ha Tae-kwonSouth Korea Kim Dong-moonSouth Korea Lee Dong-sooSouth Korea Yoo Yong-sungChina Zhang WeiChina Zhang JunEngland Simon ArcherEngland Nathan RobertsonWomen's DoublesChina Ge FeiChina Gu JunSouth Korea Ra Kyung-minSouth Korea Chung Jae-heeChina Qin YiyuanChina Gao LingDenmark Ann JørgensenDenmark Majken VangeMixed DoublesSouth Korea Kim Dong-moonSouth Korea Ra Kyung-minEngland Simon ArcherEngland Joanne GoodeChina Liu YongChina Ge FeiDenmark Michael SøgaardDenmark Rikke Olsen References External links http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/events.aspx?id=0C8BEFBC-C502-47FB-8C0B-A57F034F3452 https://www.worldbadminton.com/results/19990518_WorldChampionships/results.htm Category:BWF World Championships IBF World Championships Badminton Category:May 1999 sports events in Europe Category:International sports competitions in Copenhagen World Championships Category:1990s in Copenhagen
