For CS Sfaxien it's the fourth appearance; in their previous three appearances they won the cup all three times (1998, 2007, 2008). While Sfaxien had a bye in the preliminary round, Rabat needed to play one more round to qualify for the first round. Both teams were drawn into the same group at the group stage, where Sfaxien won the home leg 3–0 and Rabat the second leg at their home with 2–1. Both teams were already qualified for the semifinals on the second to last matchday. At those semifinals Sfaxien won after penalties against Al-Hilal from the Sudan, after both legs ended 1–0 for the representative home team.http://www.cafonline.com/competition/confederation-cup_2010/news/7161-sfaxien-edge-out-hilal-on-penalties.html Sfaxien edge out Hilal on penalties 2010-11-15 cafonline.com 2010-11-25 Rabat won the first leg away at Ittihad 2–1, lost at home 0–1, but still made it to the final because of the away goals rule.http://www.cafonline.com/competition/confederation-cup_2010/news/7144-fus-rabat-reach-historic-final.html FUS Rabat reach historic final 2010-11-13 cafonline.com 2010-11-25 Route to the final 2010 CAF Confederation Cup FUS RabatRoundCS SfaxienOpponentResultLegsPreliminary roundsOpponentResultLegsSEN Diaraf2–11–2 away, 2–0 homePreliminary roundByeGUI Baraka1–00–0 away, 1–0 homeFirst roundLBY 1977 Ahly Trípoli1–00–0 away, 1–0 homeMLI Stade Malien2–02–0 home, 0–0 awaySecond roundEGY Petrojet2–11–1 away, 1–0 homeRSA Supersport United2–22–1 away, 1–0 homePlay-offANG Atlético Luanda3–10–0 away, 3–1 home2010 CAF Confederation Cup group stage#Group B 2010 CAF Confederation Cup group stage: Group B Team Pld Played W Won D Drawn L Lost GF Goals for GA Goals against GD Goal difference Pts PointsMAR FUS Rabat641176+113TUN CS Sfaxien631295+410ZAM Zanaco613256−16EGY Haras El Hodood603348−43Group stage2010 CAF Confederation Cup group stage#Group B 2010 CAF Confederation Cup group stage: Group B Team Pld Played W Won D Drawn L Lost GF Goals for GA Goals against GD Goal difference Pts PointsMAR FUS Rabat641176+113TUN CS Sfaxien631295+410ZAM Zanaco613256−16EGY Haras El Hodood603348−43OpponentResultLegsKnockout stageOpponentResultLegsLBY 1977 Ittihad2–22–1 away, 0–1 homeSemifinalsSUD Al-Hilal1–11–0 home, 0–1 away Details First leg 28 November 2010 18:30 UTC±0 FUS Rabat MAR 0 – 0 Report TUN CS Sfaxien Complex Sportif Moulay Abdellah, Rabat Mohamed Benouza (Algeria) Second leg 4 December 2010 18:00 UTC+1 CS Sfaxien TUN 2 – 3 Report MAR FUS Rabat Rouid 44Zaiem 49 pen.
