Winger Niyi Adeolokun scored Connacht's second try midway through the half after his own high kick and chase to go over in the right corner, giving Connacht a 12–0 lead. MacGinty kicked a penalty on 27 minutes to give Connacht a 15–0 lead which they took into the interval. Despite the 15-point deficit, Leinster made no replacements at half-time, while Connacht replaced flanker Eoin McKeon with Seán O'Brien. Johnny Sexton opened the scoring for Leinster with a penalty on 43 minutes. MacGinty had an opportunity to respond with his own penalty minutes later, but dropped his effort short. He made amends shortly after however, when his kick through the Leinster defence let Matt Healy in for Connacht's third try on 57 minutes, stretching the lead to 20–3. Former Connacht player Seán Cronin gave Leinster their first try of the game after 67 minutes when he scored in the right corner, with Sexton converting. Injuries to Tiernan O'Halloran and replacement scrum-half John Cooney forced Connacht to reshuffle their backline, with Healy moving to scrum-half, but Leinster were unable to capitalise as neither team scored again with the game finishing 20–10. https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/36400483 Pro12 final: Connacht 20-10 Leinster 28 May 2016 BBC Sport 31 May 2016 The win was the first major trophy for Connacht in their 131-year history. http://www.independent.ie/sport/rugby/guinness-pro12/connacht-make-history-with-epic-victory-over-leinster-in-pro-12-final-34754604.html Connacht make history with epic victory over Leinster in Pro 12 final 28 May 2016 Irish Independent 31 May 2016 http://www.independent.ie/sport/rugby/guinness-pro12/team-for-everyone-get-their-just-rewards-34756176.html 'Team for everyone' get their just rewards 30 May 2016 Irish Independent 31 May 2016http://www.the42.ie/connacht-leinster-pro12-final-liveblog-2793936-May2016/ 2016 Pro12 Final: as it happened 28 May 2016 The 42 31 May 2016 Details 28 May 2016 17:30 Connacht IRE rugby union 20–10 Reporthttp://www.pro12rugby.com/matchcentre/19825.php Glorious Connacht complete dream season in style : Guinness PRO12 : Match Centre 2 June 2016 14 September 2017 dead https://web.archive.org/web/20160602061733/http://www.pro12rugby.com/matchcentre/19825.php#kkICMAD3feP30hvX.97#kkICMAD3feP30hvX.97 2 June 2016 IRE rugby union Leinster O'Halloran 12' cAdeolokun 21' mHealy 56' m MacGinty (1/3) MacGinty (1/2) 27' Cronin 66' c Sexton (1/1) Sexton (1/1) 43' Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh 34,550 Nigel Owens (Wales) _connacht_home_14-16b _connacht_home_14-16b _connacht_home_14-16b _connacht_home_15-16b _connacht_home_15-16b 15835c 15835c 15835c 15835c 15835c Connacht _leinster15a _leinstersocksb FFFFFF FFFFFF FFFFFF FFFFFF FFFFFF Leinster FB 15IRE rugby union Tiernan O'Halloran 68 71RW 14IRE rugby union Niyi AdeolokunOC 13IRE rugby union Robbie Henshaw 71IC 12IRE rugby union Bundee AkiLW 11IRE rugby union Matt HealyFH 10USA AJ MacGintySH 9 IRE rugby union Kieran Marmion 60N8 8 IRE rugby union John Muldoon (c)OF 7 NZL Jake HeenanBF 6 IRE rugby union Eoin McKeon 41RL 5 ENG Aly MuldowneyLL 4 IRE rugby union Ultan Dillane 61TP 3 IRE rugby union Finlay BealhamHK 2 NZL Tom McCartney 71LP 1 IRE rugby union Ronan Loughney 68Substitutions:HK 16IRE rugby union Dave Heffernan 71PR 17IRE rugby union JP CooneyPR 18IRE rugby union Rodney Ah You 68LK 19IRE rugby union Andrew Browne 61FL 20IRE rugby union Seán O'Brien 41SH 21IRE rugby union John Cooney 60 65CE 22CAN Shane O'Leary 68CE 23IRE rugby union Peter Robb 65Coach:SAM Pat Lam FB 15IRE rugby union Rob Kearney 60RW 14IRE rugby union Dave Kearney 75OC 13IRE rugby union Garry RingroseIC 12ENG Ben Te'oLW 11IRE rugby union Luke FitzgeraldFH 10IRE rugby union Johnny SextonSH 9 IRE rugby union Eoin Reddan 57N8 8 IRE rugby union Jamie Heaslip (c)OF 7 IRE rugby union Jordi MurphyBF 6 IRE rugby union Rhys RuddockRL 5 IRE rugby union Mick Kearney 16LL 4 IRE rugby union Ross Molony 62TP 3 IRE rugby union Mike Ross 41HK 2 IRE rugby union Richardt Strauss 41LP 1 IRE rugby union Jack McGrath 71Substitutions:HK 16IRE rugby union Seán Cronin 41PR 17IRE rugby union Peter Dooley 71PR 18IRE rugby union Tadhg Furlong 41LK 19NZL Hayden Triggs 16N8 20IRE rugby union Jack Conan 62SH 21IRE rugby union Luke McGrath 57FH 22IRE rugby union Ian Madigan 75FB 23RSA Zane Kirchner 60Coach:IRE rugby union Leo Cullen Man of the Match: IRE rugby union John Muldoon Touch judges: Ian Davies (Wales) Ben Whitehouse (Wales) Television Match Official: Jon Mason (Wales) Post-match The victorious Connacht Rugby squad were welcomed back to Galway city on 29 May and paraded around the city on an open-topped bus, from outside the Town Hall Theatre in Courthouse Square to Eyre Square and finally to the Sportsground. http://www.independent.ie/sport/rugby/connacht-rugby/alan-quinlan-a-glorious-dream-is-now-connachts-reality-but-they-must-keep-pat-lam-34756171.html Alan Quinlan: A glorious dream is now Connacht's reality but they must keep Pat Lam 30 May 2016 Irish Independent 31 May 2016http://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/thousands-pack-streets-galway-rugby-8080532 Thousands pack the streets of Galway for rugby heroes Connacht's homecoming 30 May 2016 Irish Mirror 31 May 2016http://www.the42.ie/galway-connacht-homecoming-parade-2794313-May2016/ One almighty party planned for Galway as Connacht's homecoming parade confirmed 29 May 2016 The 42 31 May 2016http://www.independent.ie/sport/rugby/connacht-rugby/the-top-10-moments-from-connachts-historic-season-34768681.html The top 10 moments from Connacht's historic season 3 June 2016 Irish Independent 3 June 2016 References 2016 Category:2015–16 Pro12 Category:2015–16 in Irish rugby union Category:Connacht Rugby matches Category:Leinster Rugby matches
