History
The single-story Spanish colonial revival-style home sits on 2,900 square feet at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac off South Carmelina Avenue.Denes Melissa Marilyn Monroe in her own words: listen to her last interview https://www.thetimes.com/life-style/celebrity/article/marilyn-monroe-final-interview-photoshoot-dhvcvq3wz 4 May 2026 The Times 4 May 2026 The L-shaped property now consists of four bedrooms (only two existed when Monroe lived there) and three bathrooms.Jeffrey Meyers, Step Inside Marilyn Monroe's Country Retreat in Connecticut and Spanish Colonial-Style Home in Los Angeles, Architectural Digest, September 23, 2016. In the backyard, a free-form pool is adjacent to a citrus grove. The guest house is on the left side of the driveway as seen from the front gate.
The house has a concrete threshold inlaid with four ceramic tiles painted with the Hunter family clan crest and a Latin motto 'Cursum Perficio' (literally translated as 'Course Perfected' and interpreted as 'My journey ends here' or 'I complete the course'.)Vitacco-Robles Gary 2000 Cursum Perficio: Marilyn Monroe's Brentwood Hacienda: the Story of Her Final Months Writers Club Press 9780595010820 41 https://books.google.com/books?id=VzSZx0gjTQIC&pg=PA41 This has been read as a foreshadowing of Monroe's death, six months after she purchased the property in 1962. The 2024 application for the home's historic monument status in connection to both the Hunter family and Marilyn Monroe, demonstrates the tiles depict the Hunter family's ancient Scottish coat of arms.23-0953_PC_PM_03-03-2024 https://cityclerk.lacity.org/onlinedocs/2023/23-0953_PC_PM_03-03-2024.pdf Office of the City Clerk Government of Los Angeles March 3, 2024 ADDENDUM TO THE OCTOBER 2023, HUNTER-MONROE DOSSIER

Ownership
