1961 Romanian State Council president election

An equivalent of presidential election was held in the Romanian People's Republic on 21 March 1961. The name of the Presidium of the Great National Assembly (Romania's Communist parliament) is changed into State Council of Romania and Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej features the president of the new institution, thus becoming the first president of the State Council, de facto head of state. This change was enforced as the Law #1/1961 and voted by the Great National Assembly.https://www.rasfoiesc.com/legal/administratie/Consideratii-privind-evolutia-97.php Considerații privind evoluția administrației românești în perioada începând din 1866 și până în prezent Rasfoiesc.com 2016-02-12https://www.revistadesociologie.ro/pdf-uri/nr.3-4-1999/ANGELA%20%20BANCIU%20art13.pdf Totalitarism și involuție constituțională în timpul regimului comunist din România Angela Banciu Revistadesociologie.ro 2016-02-12https://books.google.com/books?id=sz8K3N3hrOEC&q=%22consiliul+de+stat%22+1961&pg=PA310 Politică și viață cotidiană în România: în secolul al XX-lea și începutul celui de-al XXI-lea Ioan Scurtu 310 2011 9786068304342 2016-02-12https://books.google.com/books?id=V7_jjYVZ_Y8C&q=Buletinul+Oficial+%2225+martie+1961%22&pg=PA97 Istoria românilor de la Carol I la Nicolae Ceaușescu Ioan Scurtu 97 9786068304052 2016-02-12 Candidate Name Lifespan Public Administration Experience Affiliation and endorsements Alma mater and profession Candidacy Announcement datesGheorghiu-Dejx160pxGheorghe Gheorghiu-DejBorn: 1901 11 8(age 1901 11 8 1961 3 21)Bârlad, Vaslui CountyDied: 1965 3 19, BucharestPrime Minister of Romania (1952-1955)Deputy Prime Minister of Romania (1948-1952)Minister of Industry and Commerce (1947-1948)Minister of National Economy (1946-1947)Minister of Communication (1944-1946)Deputy (1948-election day)Deputy (1946-1948)Affiliation: Front of Socialist UnityAlliance members: PCR and social and civic organizations"Ștefan Luchian" Gimnasium School of Moineștielectrician, railway worker References President of the State Council election Category:1961 elections in Romania 1961
