By default, the table is ordered by the number of gold medals the athletes from a nation have won (in this context, a "nation" is an entity represented by a NPC). The number of silver medals is taken into consideration next, and then the number of bronze medals. If nations are still tied, equal ranking is given, and they are listed alphabetically by IPC country code. Two bronze medals were awarded in each table tennis and lawn bowls event.Medallists Heidelberg 1972 Paralympic Games Table Tennis http://www.paralympic.org/Sport/Results/reports.html?type=event&criteria=0&games=1972PG&sport=21 International Paralympic Committee 9 June 2011 16 March 2021 https://web.archive.org/web/20210316081306/https://www.paralympic.org/results/historical?criteria=0&games=1972PG&sport=21&type=event liveMedallists Heidelberg 1972 Paralympic Games Lawn Bowls http://www.paralympic.org/Sport/Results/reports.html?type=event&criteria=0&games=1972PG&sport=14 International Paralympic Committee 9 June 2011 16 March 2021 https://web.archive.org/web/20210316081231/https://www.paralympic.org/results/historical?criteria=0&games=1972PG&sport=14&type=event live Some athletics and swimming events did not award silver or bronze medals.Medallists Heidelberg 1972 Paralympic Games Athletics http://www.paralympic.org/Sport/Results/reports.html?type=event&criteria=0&games=1972PG&sport=2 International Paralympic Committee 9 June 2011 16 March 2021 https://web.archive.org/web/20210316081310/https://www.paralympic.org/results/historical?criteria=0&games=1972PG&sport=2&type=event liveMedallists Heidelberg 1972 Paralympic Games Swimming http://www.paralympic.org/Sport/Results/reports.html?type=event&criteria=0&games=1968PG&sport=20 International Paralympic Committee 9 June 2011 12 December 2019 https://web.archive.org/web/20191212015416/http://www.paralympic.org/Sport/Results/reports.html?type=event&criteria=0&games=1968PG&sport=20 live FRG flagIPC 1972 Summer 28 17 22 yes 17 27 31 16 15 21 16 12 13 14 13 11 14 12 7 10 8 15 9 10 9 8 4 5 8 3 4 6 9 10 6 6 6 5 6 8 5 6 6 4 5 3 4 2 1 3 5 4 3 3 3 3 2 4 2 4 3 2 4 2 1 5 4 1 1 2 1 1 2 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 4 0 0 2 1 0 1 1 0 0 1 0 0 1 See also 1972 Summer Olympics medal table References Medal Standings – Heidelberg 1972 Paralympic Games International Paralympic Committee http://www.paralympic.org/ipc_results/reports/medal_standings2pdf.php?sport_id=all&games_id=1972PG 26 April 2011 dead https://web.archive.org/web/20120911020722/http://www.paralympic.org/ipc_results/reports/medal_standings2pdf.php?sport_id=all&games_id=1972PG 11 September 2012 Specific 1972 Paralympic Medal Table
